Koinonia – Part 1

Christian Fellowship A Biblical theme in the New Testament was Koinonia, which comes from a Greek word, koinos, meaning “common” or “shared”. So koinonia fundamentally refers to sharing in something together. It's a word that we think we know, but we really don't understand the depth of the word. Four main categories in scripture where this word is used is in: Fellowship/communion; Participation/sharing; Partnership/contribution; and Communion with God. Koinonia describes a lived, relational unity that is both spiritual and practical, a defining feature of early Christian life. We are called to koinonia with God and with other disciples of Jesus. How do we step into a true Koinonia relationship with God and others? Scriptures referenced: Acts 2:42; 1 Corinthians 10:16; Philippians 1:5; 1 John 1:1-4; Matthew 7:21-23; John 17:3; John 14:9; John 14:16-20; Romans 12:9-10; John 15:12-13.
