CloseFasting Fasting is the last of the regular spiritual activities that Jesus discusses in the Sermon on the Mount, specifically what our motives are within fasting. Pastor Nate explains the differences between fasting today compared to Biblical times. God says fasting the right way is not about us, but about Him and others. Fasting is abstaining from a need or perceived need to focus on God and His presence in our lives. Many think of fasting with food, but there are other ways we can fast…especially if they are activities that have taken our time away from God. We empty ourselves physically to fill ourselves with God…so fasting is feasting! It is saying “I want you, God, more than anything else!” Scriptures referenced: Matthew 6:16-18, Matthew 9:14-17, Isaiah 58:1-12, Matthew 25, Matthew 4:1-4, Deuteronomy 8:2-6, John 6:51-58.
