The Horror of Sin – part 3

Conviction, Confession, Conversion God wants the best for you. He convicts you to convince you of a better way; he is getting your attention to protect and bless you. Conviction is also hopeful. It brings an atmosphere that says, Trust God. Repent and run to a merciful Savior. The hurt of conviction brings us to a place of confession and then repentance where we change our mind or path and get back to the way that God wants us to travel. When we feel the weight and pain of sin through conviction, that should lead us towards confession and repentance. Confession is merely responding to conviction by recognizing our wrongdoing against God and others. Repentance requires us to be humble and pray to our God. When we rightly strive to feel the weight of our sin against God, we put ourselves in a place where we can experience the conviction of the Holy Spirit; and from there we can move towards confession and repentance. Scriptures referenced: 1 Samuel 24:5; Psalm 32:3-5; John 21:15-17; 2 Chronicles 7:14; Matthew 6:9-12; Isaiah 59:1-2; Psalm 66:18.
